“All people deserve the opportunity to live their best life, which is ever a beautiful work in progress.”

— Paul Weitz

As a child growing up on the East Coast of the United States, Paul recognized in himself a desire to help others who were suffering or in pain.  When he was sixteen, Paul read the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse which introduced him to Buddhism and yoga.  For the first time, he saw the glimmer of his own path forward toward a life of healing and spirituality.

Paul continued his learning through the study of Journalism and Literature for his undergrad studies, which included a special interest in archetypal studies and symbolism.  This led to a position as an editor and professional writer in public relations at Trenton State College.

Following his desire to live to closer to the land, Paul then worked for three years on a farm, before moving to California, where he obtained a Masters Degree in Spiritual and Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica (USM).

During his time in California, Paul studied and trained in yoga extensively at the renowned Yoga Works in Santa Monica and Venice Beach, eventually becoming a teacher in 1996, specializing in working with beginners.  He was personally mentored by many accomplished teachers, including Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Jasmine Lieb, Lisa Walford and others.

Since then, Paul has been initiated into the Sivananda Yoga And Vedanta Lineage, where he has practiced and taught Classical Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda. This has included trips to India, where Paul found a sacred and deep kinship with the people and the land, in both northern and southern India.

Paul has also studied and mentored with Saul David Raye in the art of Thai Bodywork for many years, and has made numerous trips to Thailand to study with indigenous teachers, including the late Master Pichest Boonthumme.

Moving to Chicago in 1999, Paul found a burgeoning yoga community, swiftly establishing himself as lead teacher.  He has since led many yoga teacher trainings as well as trainings in Thai Bodywork.  He co-founded Chicago School of Thai Massage (CSTM) with his close friend and colleague Paul Fowler in 2008, which has since become Blue Lotus Thai Healing Studies (BLTHS).

Now based in Evanston, Illinois Paul continues teaching group yoga classes at online, at Ahimsa Yoga, and Chair Yoga for Seniors and those dealing with Parkinson’s Disease through Northwestern University.

Paul also works with many people one-on-one, using the tools of yoga, Thai Healing Touch and Ayurveda.  He specializes in clients recovering from injuries as well as special needs, such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Down’s Syndrome.
